My baby's premature birth was humbling, says Beatrice
Briefly

Princess Beatrice reflected on the premature birth of her daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose, calling the experience humbling and filled with uncertainty. Born several weeks early, Athena weighed just 4lb 5oz. Beatrice expressed the emotional turmoil many mothers face, including fears about their baby's health and the feeling of lack of control. Appointed as the new patron of the prematurity charity Borne, Beatrice aims to raise awareness of women's health issues and support other mothers facing similar challenges. She shared that, despite initial fears, Athena is now thriving, emphasizing the ongoing need to discuss female health matters.
Nothing quite prepares you for the moment when you realise your baby is going to arrive early, there's so little control.
What I learnt in this process has been humbling.
I lay awake in the weeks leading up to birth, trying to monitor each movement of the baby in my tummy and asking myself a thousand times 'What if this happens, or what if that happens?'
I'm extremely pleased to let you know Athena is now doing really well, I have a few more answers as to what happened, but still no precise explanation.
