Limerick hurler Kyle Hayes, 26, recently lost his appeal against a dangerous driving conviction after acknowledging that he drove at 155kmh in a 100kmh zone. During the incident, which occurred on the main Cork-Limerick road, he overtook nine cars in his Audi. Hayes claimed that while his speeding was significant, he did not view it as dangerous but rather as careless, explaining that he felt he was 'running out of road' which compelled him to accelerate during the maneuver.

Mr. Hayes admitted to driving at 155kmh in a 100kmh zone, overtaking nine vehicles on the Cork-Limerick road, but maintained it was not dangerous.

Despite the conviction for dangerous driving, Hayes argued that he simply had to accelerate since he felt he was 'running out of road' while overtaking.
