The Met Office anticipates a scorching day with temperatures peaking at 34C in London and the southeast. While much of England will experience highs around 30C, northwestern regions like Northern Ireland and western Scotland will face heavy rain and lower temperatures. Overnight conditions will remain warm, making sleep difficult. Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen advises the public to stay hydrated and minimize sun exposure due to the discomfort presented by the heat. A cooler change is expected later in the week, though much of the UK will enjoy sunshine.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen noted, 'These high temperatures and humid conditions will be quite uncomfortable... Stay hydrated and try to keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day.'
Gundersen added, 'Tonight temperatures will remain high, with some locations not dropping below 20°C in what is called a tropical night, making it hard to sleep.'
