Skylar Dalziel, 22, was sentenced to 21 months in prison, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to 14 counts of trading copyrighted music illegally.
The investigation revealed that Dalziel had illegally accessed cloud storage accounts, amassing 291,941 music tracks, including unreleased songs from mainstream artists.
Evidence supplied by the Recording Industry Association of America confirmed Dalziel had purchased six unreleased tracks on the dark web using Bitcoin.
Despite significant evidence, including a total earning of 42,049 from illicit music sales, Dalziel received a suspended sentence and was ordered to perform community service.
