On February 16, a burglary at an Airbnb on Talbot Street, Dublin, left eight female tourists traumatized. The man, clad in a balaclava, broke into the property around 12:20 am, where the women were watching TV. He threatened them with a knife, stole the TV, and fled through a plate glass window. Connell, an Airbnb worker, recounted the chaos and panic among the victims. Gardaí are currently investigating, but facial recognition is hindered by the burglar's disguise, causing concern for the witnesses' safety and recovery from the incident.
Connell, who works at the Airbnb in the north inner city, said eight women, who were watching the TV when the man wearing a balaclava broke into the building, are "traumatised."
He turns around and grabs the TV off the wall, slices it off with a knife. The girls are screaming and panicked at this stage.
Even if we did get him in CCTV, it's practically impossible to recognise him. And once there's a balaclava, you need to be CSI.
Connell said the women were "totally traumatised". They barricaded themselves into the bedroom when they saw this guy coming in with a balaclava.
