Local police are investigating and are seeking video footage from bystanders, asking not to share it on social media. The tragedy has struck a community already reeling from the recent loss of another schoolgirl. Local councillor Denise Johnston expressed her condolences and highlighted the need for community support, recalling previous similar incidents in the area.
"There was a large number of people in the vicinity at the time who may have recorded video footage of the scene. I would ask anyone with footage not to share it on social media, but instead forward it to police through the Major Incident Public Portal."
