Since her release from Hamas captivity, Ilana Gritzewsky feels anything but free as she campaigns for the return of hostages, including her partner, Matan Zangauker. Captured alongside him during a violent attack on their home, she has been vocal about the trauma she endured while in captivity. Despite her release over 15 months ago, Gritzewsky feels the weight of her experiences, especially as cease-fire talks stagnate and hostages remain vulnerable. With only around 24 hostages living in Gaza, her efforts focus on raising awareness for those still missing and the ongoing struggles for their freedom.
Ms. Gritzewsky stated, 'I still do not feel free... my partner remains a hostage,' highlighting the emotional toll of captivity and her ongoing activism for others.
Describing her trauma, she revealed, 'my captors beat me, then molested me,' underscoring the violent experiences faced by hostages and the lasting impact of such trauma.
