The Sugar Bowl Resort announced it had to close due to the outage, which compounded concerns about weather-related travel risks, prompting an Alert Day from the KCRA 3 weather team due to expected heavy snow and strong winds.
The outage began in the area of Norden and Soda Springs at 11:26 a.m., affecting about 1,400 customers around Interstate 80.
Sugar Bowl Resort reported that the outage forced its closure after initially closing its lifts due to the power issue.
