The Madonna Inn has repeatedly faced the theft of its monogrammed welcome rug, with five thefts reported, costing $250 each time to replace it.
'This is the first time the Inn has gotten the rug back. It's possible that the social media circulation of the photos influenced the return but that's total speculation,' said Police Department spokesperson Christine Wallace.
After the rug was returned, general manager Connie Pearce offered a reward of $500 and speculated about the identity of the thieves, describing them as young males.
'I think at this point we are going to let it go, as the rug has been returned,' Madonna Inn spokesperson Amanda Rich commented on the situation.
