Samir Abdelgadir has been found guilty of kidnapping a 14-year-old boy in Toronto in 2020, tied to a drug debt incurred by the boy's half-brother. Superior Court Justice Sandra Nishikawa described the kidnapping as part of a "coordinated plan" following the theft of 90 kilograms of cocaine by the brother. While five men were originally charged, Abdelgadir was the only one to go to trial, being identified as the driver involved in the abduction. The boy was released the following day, and the evidence led the court to conclude Abdelgadir's guilt without doubt.
The boy was abducted outside his home the morning of March 4, 2020, while on his way to school in the Jane and Finch area, police said at the time.
Mr. Abdelgadir stood by in the Tahoe to keep watch and assist the kidnapping,
Based on the totality of the evidence, guilt is the only reasonable conclusion.
Nishikawa wrote the kidnapping was a "coordinated plan" after the brother stole 90 kilograms of cocaine from his employers, who were involved in drug trafficking.
