Toronto police are investigating the random murder of Mario Ferreira, 60, who was killed in an unprovoked attack near the University of Toronto. Det. Sgt. Trevor Grieve reported that police responded to campus security's call and discovered Ferreira with severe injuries, leading to his death from blunt force trauma. Surveillance footage captured the suspect approaching Ferreira, who was likely sleeping on a bench, and attacking him with an unidentified object. The suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous while police continue their investigation.
Police have obtained and reviewed video footage from the area, Grieve said, which showed an unprovoked attack by an unknown suspect at approximately 5:20 a.m.
Without any warning or provocation, the suspect approaches Mr. Ferreira, who's lying on the bench, and he uses that debris to assault him repeatedly and violently.
