A fire erupted in a Toronto apartment building around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, leading to a life-threatening condition for a man in his 60s. Emergency services, including several fire trucks, responded swiftly. The fire, which originated on the sixth floor, was extinguished after residents were evacuated. Toronto Fire Platoon Chief Rodney Johnston reported encountering heavy smoke in the affected unit, and thorough safety checks were being conducted throughout the building post-incident to ensure resident safety.
Crews encountered heavy smoke in the unit and as a result, a victim was discovered,” Johnston said, speaking at the scene. Residents were evacuated due to the heavy smoke.
