Councillors tell TTC board to rebuild public trust by tackling service delays | CBC News

TTC Riders and city councillors have voiced significant commuter frustrations regarding delays on the Toronto subway, highlighting issues like missed appointments and confusing announcements. TTC Chair Jamaal Myers acknowledged that these delays disrupt lives and erode trust. In response, Coun. Josh Matlow has proposed a motion aimed at improving the TTC's response to service interruptions, including investigating root causes and enhancing shuttle services. He advocates for clear communication from the transit authority and expects an actionable plan from the interim TTC CEO during the upcoming board meeting.
"Delays disrupt lives, affect livelihoods, cause anxiety, and erode public trust," said TTC Chair Coun. Jamaal Myers, emphasizing the need for immediate action by the TTC.
"It almost sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher. You cannot understand what they are saying," said Matlow, highlighting the incomprehensible onboard announcements during delays.
Matlow expressed his frustration, stating, "I don't want to hear excuses. I don't want to hear, 'we can't do that,' or 'we'll get back to you next year.'"
