Way more game makers are working on PC titles than ever, survey says

According to Informa's latest State of the Game Industry survey, 80% of game developers are currently engaged in PC projects, a notable increase from 66% last year. This marks the highest level of interest in this platform since at least 2018. The report indicates a growing "passion for PC development" among developers, as interest in PC projects also rose to 74%. Correspondingly, a record number of new titles were released on Steam in 2024, highlighting the increasing popularity of PC gaming overall.
Four out of five game developers are currently working on a project for the PC, marking a significant increase from 66 percent a year ago.
The number of developers interested in the PC platform has risen from 62 percent last year to 74 percent this year, reflecting growing enthusiasm.
