UK launches competition suit into Google. Who else has done the same?
Briefly

Google is facing a new antitrust investigation by the UK's Competition and Market Authority (CMA) regarding its significant market share in search services and advertising. The CMA's inquiry stems from concerns over the impact on consumers and competitors, as Google holds over 90% of search queries in the UK. This investigation is backed by new legislation that enhances the CMA's enforcement capabilities. Additionally, previous cases such as the US District Court ruling in 2024, which found Google had illegally monopolized search services, highlight ongoing legal challenges to the tech giant's practices.
It's our job to ensure people get the full benefit of choice and innovation in search services and get a fair deal, stated Sarah Cardell, the CMA's chief executive.
Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly, US District Judge Amit Mehta emphasized in August's ruling on Google's business practices.
