Lip-Bu Tan has taken over as Intel's CEO, inheriting a bold rescue plan from his predecessor, Pat Gelsinger. Tan plans to maintain Intel's production of chips for competitors through Intel Foundry, a departure from previous cost-centric practices. His focus is on creating 'The New Intel' by learning from past mistakes and refocusing on engineering excellence. However, uncertainty remains about the potential separation of Intel Foundry Services, a key issue under Gelsinger. Tan's initial statements indicate a strategic shift while continuing the pursuit of production expansion in Europe and the U.S.
Under my leadership, Intel will be an engineering-focused company. We will push ourselves to develop the best products, listen intently to our customers and hold ourselves accountable to the commitments we make so that we build trust.
While the core principles of the previous plan will be adopted, the implementation will not be an exact replica.
