Netflix Raises Prices, Reports Record-High Membership Growth | Entrepreneur
Briefly

Netflix is raising its subscription prices for various plans while announcing that it will cease to disclose subscriber numbers in future quarterly reports. The price for the standard plan with ads will increase from $6.99 to $7.99, with similar increases for the ad-free and 4K plans. This decision arrives after Netflix reported a record 18.9 million new paid memberships in the last quarter of 2024, significantly surpassing analyst expectations. The change in reporting reflects an evolution in Netflix's pricing strategy as it diversifies its subscription offerings.
As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix.
Netflix gained 18.9 million paid memberships in the three months ending in December, the biggest jump in subscription additions in its history and above projections of 9.8 million.
