Microsoft has announced it will lay off about 650 staff in its gaming division following its $69bn merger, primarily impacting corporate and support functions.
Xbox head Phil Spencer assured employees that the recent layoffs would not affect any games, devices, or studios. He emphasized that this decision was to align team structure post-acquisition.
In the wake of these layoffs, Spencer highlighted how Microsoft was aiming to minimize disruption during the integration of new teams from its high-profile acquisitions.
Despite the job cuts, Spencer noted that there would be 'some impacts to other teams' as they adjust to new priorities and manage ongoing projects.
