Ikea's updated drone system will operate in the US, enhancing inventory counting and management by allowing drones to collaborate with workers 24/7 at distribution centers.
Ikea's chief digital officer Parag Parekh mentioned that the drones can navigate higher storage levels using a custom indoor positioning system and avoid collisions.
With over 250 drones already in use across 73 warehouses globally, Ikea continues to innovate, aiming to reduce human ergonomic strain while improving task efficiency.
The autonomous drones not only count inventory but also identify misplaced items, allowing human workers to shift focus to lighter, more engaging tasks.
