Delta reportedly seeking potential damages from CrowdStrike, Microsoft after global IT outages
Briefly

Delta Air Lines has reportedly hired a prominent law firm to help the carrier pursue potential damages from CrowdStrike and Microsoft following global tech outages that caused internal computer issues and flight cancellations. Although no lawsuit has been filed yet, Delta plans to seek compensation from both companies.
The tech chaos on July 19, affecting CrowdStrike customers using Microsoft Windows products, disrupted Delta's systems for over six days, leading to flight delays, cancellations, and an influx of stranded passengers. This prompted an investigation by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The IT outage resulted from a faulty software update by CrowdStrike, causing Windows operating system malfunctions. According to Mark Lanterman, chief technology officer at Computer Forensic Services, bad code within the update led to system crashes.
