With this update, Threads users who have opted in to fediverse sharing can now access a comprehensive list of their followers from various servers, enhancing user awareness of their online presence. Adam Mosseri emphasized that this feature marks a significant advancement in how Threads interacts with the broader fediverse, allowing users to see detailed follower profiles and fostering greater engagement across platforms.
Despite improvements, Threads still has limitations in its fediverse capabilities. Users can't respond to replies from other applications or search for individuals on those platforms directly. Additionally, cross-posting remains delayed compared to real-time interactions, taking up to 15 minutes for content to sync, which may hinder seamless communication for users accustomed to faster exchanges.
