Norfolk Southern has fired its CEO, Alan Shaw, after an internal investigation revealed a consensual relationship with the company’s chief legal officer, Nabanita Nag.
The investigation into Shaw, which led to his ousting, was prompted by potential violations of company policy, signaling issues in corporate governance.
Mark George, the CFO, will take over as CEO, bringing nearly five years of experience while Shaw had faced pressure over operational challenges and recent derailments.
Despite the circumstances surrounding Shaw's exit, Norfolk Southern stated that his removal was not linked to the financial performance of the company.
