Jayda Hurtado, a 2025 college graduate, is experiencing the anxiety of job searching in a challenging market. Despite applying to multiple positions, she hasn’t secured an interview yet. The 2025 State of the Graduate Report indicates that while 83% of graduates are optimistic about finding jobs soon, many are also realistic about settling for less ideal positions. Hurtado's dual focus on marketing and advertising reflects a broader trend among graduates, with nearly half uncertain about securing preferred positions amid economic uncertainty.
"I'm actually terrified. I probably have a good cry session about it maybe every two weeks," Hurtado said.
"If not, then it's a matter of having something to get me by before I get a big girl job," Hurtado said.
"It's a hard world out there for a lot of people who are not just highly educated, but have built these careers and have a trusted resume of previous experience," said Emily Levine.
According to Monster's report, 83% of graduates believe they will find a job shortly after graduation, with 37% expecting it within four to six months.
