Meet the 'incubators' that build Hollywood's celebrity-owned brands
"I was creating items that weren't out there for me that I wanted for myself,"
"I looked up these pieces to see if they existed and they didn't."
"Shay came out of nowhere,"
"She was already on an entrepreneurial journey. You could tell her juices were flowing and she wanted to build a company."
By the mid-2010s Shay Mitchell spent much of her time flying and grew frustrated with available luggage, finding it either cheaply made or impractical despite high prices. She sketched new travel designs on a cocktail napkin and, finding no existing products, pursued entrepreneurship alongside her acting and production careers. Beach House Group, led by PJ Brice and Shaun Neff, formed a joint venture, installed Target veteran Adeela Hussain Johnson as co-founder, and used Brice's private-label manufacturing contacts to produce duffles, backpacks, passport holders, and travel essentials. The brand Béis launched in 2018 and took its name from the beige color of Mitchell's longtime travel bag.
