A team of Long Island ninth graders designed an AI program called 'buddy bot' to combat the negative impact of social media on teens. This initiative emerged from a competitive contest organized by Northwell's Feinstein Institutes during which over 180 students participated. The 'buddy bot' offers positive reinforcement to encourage users to step away from their screens. The project highlights the students' firsthand experiences with social media pressures, putting forth innovative solutions to assist their peers in reducing screen time and fostering a healthier digital environment.
