Facebook Moves to Restrict the Reach of Unoriginal Content
Briefly

Unoriginal content takes advantage of creators by repeatedly reposting their work without proper credit. While creators can share and add commentary to enrich content, simple reposting without meaningful enhancements is problematic. Facebook aims to reduce the visibility of duplicate videos to ensure original creators gain deserved recognition. Additionally, methods for proper attribution, such as links to original content, are being tested. Users can check post-level insights to understand any distribution penalties affecting their content.
Unoriginal content reuses or repurposes another creator's content repeatedly without crediting them, taking advantage of their creativity and hard work.
We want to combat the repeated reposting of content from other creators without permission or meaningful enhancements.
If our systems detect duplicate videos on Facebook, we will reduce the distribution of the copies so that original creators can get the visibility that they deserve.
We're also exploring ways to provide proper attribution to creators, for example, testing adding links on duplicate videos that point viewers to the original piece of content.
