Ellis Partners has been opposing a proposed condominium development near the El Camino Real shopping center, claiming it would negatively impact the area and shopping center parking. However, they are now considering a larger housing project after learning that housing development is permitted on the shopping center's parking lots. Discussions have begun with architects and contractors, and there’s hope for over 100 housing units with various sizes and affordability. The company is also negotiating with Ed Storm on this potential joint project.

Rubison said his company has recently learned from discussions with the city's planning staff that housing is now considered a permitted use on the shopping center's parking lots.
