Bishop Ranch in San Ramon has undergone a significant transformation from a traditional office park into a vibrant East Bay neighborhood. Sunset Development is spearheading this evolution in response to changing work dynamics post-coronavirus. The project aims to develop a mixed-use community with residential buildings, retail options, and restaurants, effectively establishing San Ramon's downtown. With the potential to house 25,000 to 30,000 residents, this revitalization is already seeing early success with initial residential sales bringing new life into the area.
The evolution, if successful, could enable Bishop Ranch to evolve into a true mixed-use neighborhood with office spaces, shops, restaurants, a hotel - and now, a burst of housing development.
"We're trying to make the suburbs fun," Mehran Jr. said.
The fast-changing circumstances prompted executives with Sunset Development to craft a fresh approach to Bishop Ranch to help the business hub navigate a brutal office market in the region.
Mehran Jr. estimated that once the housing is complete, Bishop Ranch could accommodate 25,000 to 30,000 residents within its boundaries.
