"Krispy Kreme's multigrain cake donut, released in June 2007, was made with seven grains and flavored with molasses, but it also failed to attract health-conscious customers."
Krispy Kreme introduced a whole wheat glazed donut in February 2007 to cater to the low-carb diet trend. Despite being made from 100% whole wheat and promoted as a healthier option, the nutritional differences were minimal compared to the original glazed donut. The whole wheat version only reduced calories and carbs slightly. Following its lack of success, the donut was removed from the menu. A similar multigrain donut released shortly after also failed to gain traction and was discontinued.
