For the past six months, a team of engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has been trying to fix a glitchy computer-15 billion miles away-on the Voyager 1 spacecraft, which entered interstellar space in 2012.
Three key challenges make the repair job complex: the computer is unique and not found on the market today, it dates back to the 1970s, and it is situated an astounding 15 billion miles from Earth.
