Former Polarizing Sharks Forward Could Miss Significant Time
Briefly

Hearing there is a very good chance that the @EdmontonOilers Evander Kane won't be ready for the start of the season...that he may require surgery...and is likely to be on LTIR to start the year - Bob Stauffer (@Bob_Stauffer) August 12, 2024
Kane fully admitted to the injury before the postseason, as he missed the last three games of the Oilers' regular season. 'I've been dealing with a sports hernia kind of all year. It was just getting worse & worse, so I thought it would be good to take a week off for the playoffs.' Evander Kane is fighting to be ready for Game 1.
With the winger expected to need surgery, the Oilers cap space will gain $5.25 million for as long as he is on LTIR. According to PuckPedia, the Oilers are projected to be $354,167 over the $88 million salary cap.
