First responders who helped 49ers' Ricky Pearsall after shooting honored before season opener
Briefly

SFPD Sargent Joelle Harrell was the first officer to arrive and assist Pearsall after he was shot near Union Square. Her husband and fellow Sargent, Frank Harrell joined her for the game Thursday against the New York Jets.
Pearsall gave each of them signed jerseys in a gratitude-filled reunion on the field. This moment highlighted the bond created between the first responders and the athlete.
Coach Kyle Shanahan recounted, 'It was really tough. We just knew that he got shot. And that was all we knew. And then it took us about an hour to figure out what the hospital was.'
Ricky Pearsall's first public appearance since being shot was marked by his participation in practice, where he was seen tossing a football to himself.
