The 49ers have opened the practice window for defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos, who has been on injured reserve due to a knee injury.
San Francisco signed Gross-Matos to a two-year, $18 million contract in the offseason, and he is expected to serve as the team's top backup at defensive end.
The 49ers also announced the signings of wide receiver Russell Gage and safety Tashaun Gipson, while releasing receiver Malik Turner from the practice squad.
This season, Gross-Matos appeared in three games before being injured, contributing one tackle and one quarterback hit before going on injured reserve.
