Friends of Sunset Boulevard Park Campaign Launches - Streetsblog San Francisco
Briefly

A new group named 'Friends of Sunset Boulevard Park' aims to convert Sunset Boulevard in San Francisco into a vibrant, car-free park. The proposed transformation includes spacious pedestrian and bike pathways, community gardens, and areas for recreational activities. This initiative follows the success of the car-free Great Highway. Group leader Lucas Luthor emphasized the redundancy of Sunset as a thoroughfare given its proximity to Great Highway Park, calling for the area to serve the community instead. Advocates envision seasonal events and tranquility in a bustling city space, enhancing local wildlife and community engagement.
Imagine Sunset Boulevard in San Francisco transformed into a lush, car-free park... wide pedestrian and bike paths lined with native trees and gardens.
Sunset is less than a mile from Great Highway Park and parallels it, but these drivers can't seem to find it anyway, so obviously it's not much use as a highway.
I mean, we're on a roll, right? We may as well make it into a park too.
