Coupe driver caught going 95 mph on dangerous Calif. highway
Briefly

On Aug. 9, CHP Santa Cruz posted a photo on social media of a silver Honda coupe that was pulled over after an officer clocked the driver going 95 mph on Highway 17 near Glenwood Drive - 30 miles an hour over the speed limit for California highways.
"Speed is a primary collision factor, and if you go to the speed limit, you reduce the chances of being involved in a crash," CHP spokesperson Israel Murillo told SFGATE.
Speeding is involved in one-third of all fatal crashes in the United States, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Exceeding the speed limit makes it difficult for a driver to steer safely.
A driver going 26 to 99 mph over the speed limit will suffer a $490 ticket after assessments, fees and surcharges are tacked on top of a base rate of $100.
