3 California firefighters seriously injured in Texas crash while heading to assist in hurricane response

Three members of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department experienced a severe vehicle accident while en route to assist with Hurricane Helene relief, resulting in serious injuries.
According to Assistant Fire Chief Jim Gaboury, the three firefighters were transported by helicopter to a hospital in Shreveport and are in varying conditions from moderate to critical.
Mayor Todd Gloria expressed the city's condolences, stating, 'These firefighters have the city's full and total support as they go through what we hope will be a swift recovery.'
This tragic incident marks the first time members of the Urban Search & Rescue California Task Force 8 have experienced a serious accident while on duty.
