Sunrise Calls on Next DNC Chair to Curb Corporate Influence in Democratic Party
Briefly

"The influence of corporate money in the Democratic Party is undermining Democrats' ability to win elections. It's time for the Democratic Party to represent everyday Americans and return power to the people." - Aru Shiney-Ajay, executive director of the Sunrise Movement.
"We are fed up and we won't take it anymore," one activist said, expressing the frustration felt among supporters of the movement regarding the current state of political fundraising.
"As a presidential candidate in 2008, Barack Obama introduced a ban on DNC donations from corporate lobbyists and PACs, promising, 'We are going to change how Washington works.'" This reflects a commitment to reform that has been lost in recent years.
Democratic leaders must decisively show that the party is for the people - not billionaires or corporations, as phrased by the progressive advocacy groups urging for a change.
