"We definitely need somebody just as passionate or more to fill the seat and to continue the upward direction that downtown is going," said Khan Chung, a downtown barbershop owner.
"I believe residents of D3 deserve to have their voices heard," one resident emphasized during the council meeting, advocating for community representation.
"I know it's expensive, but nobody said democracy is easy," stated Jeff Levine, expressing concerns over the high cost of a special election in San Jose.
Councilmember Domingo Candelas noted, "The special election will help build trust with the D3 community," highlighting the need for accountability and representation.
