Redwood City names new fire chief

Redwood City has appointed Baraka Carter as its new fire chief, effective February 24, 2024. Carter has extensive experience with 25 years in various fire service executive roles, including leadership positions in Cal Fire's Santa Clara Unit and the Morgan Hill Fire Department. His appointment follows a nationwide search to fill the position left by retired interim Fire Chief Ray Iverson.
