Teen's pursuit of hit-and-run driver ends in pedestrians injured

A 19-year-old in Redwood City chased after a driver involved in a hit-and-run, ignoring police instructions to pull over. Instead of complying, he pursued the vehicle at dangerous speeds, ultimately crashing into a group of pedestrians, resulting in serious injuries to two adults who were hospitalized. He was arrested on four counts of assault with a deadly weapon and is now in custody at the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility as the investigation continues.
At 10:06 p.m., Redwood City police received a call from a 19-year-old male who said he was actively chasing the driver who had just hit his car.
Although dispatch obtained the suspect vehicle's license plate and instructed the teen to pull over, he did not comply and continued to chase the driver at high speeds.
When the first driver stopped near a group of pedestrians on the 900 block of King Street, the teen followed, driving toward the group and striking several people.
The teen was arrested on four counts of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility.
