Interim Police Chief Nick Borges and Det. Joshua Parker stood alongside a photo of Anne Pham as Robert Lanoue was sentenced for her murder. The 72-year-old, extradited from Nevada, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder and kidnapping. Pham disappeared in January 1982 while walking to school, with her remains found two days later. After decades, the Cold Case Task Force used DNA evidence to help solve the crime, leading to Lanoue's identification as a suspect, linked to the crime scene during his military service nearby.
The Monterey County District Attorney's Office announced that Robert Lanoue was sentenced for the murder and kidnapping of 5-year-old Anne Pham back in 1982.
Her body was found two days later in the former Fort Ord. The case went cold for 40 years, but in 2020 the county's Cold Case Task Force reopened the case.
