A Napa Valley woman is recovering after being shot in the back of the head during a road rage incident on Memorial Day weekend. Her sister reports the attack involved repeated ramming with a car and that the gunshot was not fatal. The victim is expected to be out of work while recovering and caring for her daughter, and a GoFundMe fundraiser has raised more than $13,700 toward a $15,000 goal. A 38-year-old suspect was arrested after police received a 911 call, identified the vehicle using license plate cameras, and used a PIT maneuver to stop the car. The suspect faces charges connected to murder and torture and is allegedly linked to another death found after a welfare check, with the investigation ongoing.
"“In an unprovoked attack, my sister was violently struck repeatedly by her assailant with his car,” she wrote in a GoFundMe. “Ramming her [car] multiple times, ultimately ending the attack by shooting her in the back of the head. She was incredibly lucky, with the gunshot not being fatal. Her attacker, we've come to realize, was fleeing from a slew of other crimes when he came upon Meagan,” she added."
"“She is going to be out of work for a while recovering. Any help is greatly appreciated so she can focus on recovering, moving forward, and taking care of her daughter.” The fundraiser has drawn more than $13,700 in donations toward its $15,000 goal as of Friday morning."
"The suspect in the case, 38-year-old Coleman Rocheleau, was caught by police after they received a 911 call reporting the shooting. Detectives used license plate cameras to identify the suspect's car and used a a PIT maneuver, or Precision Immobilization Technique, to disable his car after a pursuit. They arrested Rocheleau and booked him into the Hill Road Correctional Facility on charges connected to murder and torture."
"Rochealeau is allegedly connected to a woman found dead at a home near Highway 29 and Point Lakeview Road in the Kelseyville Riviera area. He told investigators during an interview that there could be another victim inside a Lake County residence. Lake County detectives conducted a welfare check inside the residence, which had a report of shots fired earlier that day, and found a woman dead. It's unclear who the woman is or how she died."
