Cretora Biggerstaff, a 106-year-old woman from Houston, has publicly criticized airport security protocols that repeatedly question her age. Despite holding valid identification meeting security standards, she feels discriminated against by personnel who fail to recognize her ability to navigate travel and assume that her age impairs her competence. Alongside her friend, she has contacted airline CEOs to advocate for updating systems that reflect the increasing longevity of passengers, emphasizing the need for a more respectful approach towards senior travelers.
"If I could get the airlines to realize I'm not some stupid old lady, and that's what they think I am - that I don't know if I'm coming or going," said Biggerstaff.
"People live longer, so they don't have to go through all that stress every time they travel," said Biggerstaff's friend, Arline Thienel.
