The incident occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. on a Monday. The teenager is now in critical condition after the impact. Both individuals were transported to the hospital, and police are investigating the circumstances, having collected witness accounts and video evidence of the incident. Initial findings suggest the driver had no impairment from drugs or alcohol but may have experienced a health crisis before the crash.
Our initial assessment is that the driver ran a red light on El Camino Real and struck the pedestrian who was lawfully in the crosswalk.
