On Friday night, 12-year-old Paisley Fenner made the crucial 911 call after witnessing a Cessna 180 crash into the Platte River in Fremont, Nebraska. Despite never having called emergency services before, her instincts kicked in following the plane's loud impact. This incident resulted in the tragic deaths of three passengers aboard. Fenner recalled the chaotic scene where her neighbors mobilized to assist. Still grappling with the traumatic event, she expressed disbelief that such a tragedy could occur in her neighborhood, highlighting the emotional aftermath of the crash as local authorities began their investigation.
"It was like a boom and you could hear the impact when it landed," Fenner told the local outlet.
"Yesterday we were still all in shock and we were still trembling, crying, and shaking," Fenner told the outlet on Saturday.
Fenner then described a harrowing scene with her neighbors loading their airboats and rounding up their dogs to assist rescue efforts.
"And today, it's still kinda the same way and we're still trying to fathom what happened. I've seen it on the news and stuff, plane crashes, but I didn't think it would happen in my backyard."
