In a recent edition of SFGATE's Fogcutter, the article highlights a visit to Headlands Brewing in Walnut Creek, which features a spacious beer garden nestled among towering redwood trees. Since its opening, the venue has quickly become popular with its outdoor seating, fire pits, and variety of craft beers. The standout dish is chef Jose Gonzales' double smash burger, praised for its indulgent flavors. The experience was particularly memorable for the author, who celebrated a birthday surrounded by friends, delicious food, and a unique ambiance.
Last Sunday night, I rang in my birthday with a Czech-style beer and heavenly smash burger under the majestic cover of seven towering redwood trees.
The outdoor deck, which was built around the trees to avoid their roots and ensure their longevity, was packed with groups like ours huddled around fire pits.
But the star at Headlands - besides the redwoods - is chef Jose Gonzales' double smash burger, which he's been perfecting since the Headlands flagship brewery debuted in Lafayette in 2021.
Sitting in an Adirondack, looking up at those trees while surrounded by friends and double-fisting my beer and burger, made for a memorable birthday indeed.
