Bassist Sam Wilkes, initially dissatisfied with a previous performance of 'The Fool on the Hill,' sought to recreate the experience with friends Gregory Uhlmann and Josh Johnson. The trio, who had not played together before, performed at L.A. jazz club ETA, utilizing their musical backgrounds to elevate the familiar Beatles tune into an innovative improvisational exploration. Their history in the vibrant L.A. jazz scene, influenced by mentor Jeff Parker, enabled them to connect deeply on stage, leading to three-minute exploratory jaunts that effectively showcased their synergy and unique interpretations of jazz.
