The historic Jeanne D'Arc restaurant at Cornell Hotel de France in San Francisco has permanently closed after reopening in late 2023 following a long hiatus. Originally established in 1972, it garnered acclaim for its French cuisine and unique ambience. Although it briefly returned with a famed chef and medieval decor, the shift in consumer interest towards private event rentals led to its closure. All remaining dining areas will now serve exclusively for events, reflecting a broader trend in the San Francisco dining landscape.
The decision was made in response to shifting demand, with a growing interest in private event spaces in San Francisco, Oceanic Properties' marketing director Priscila Damasceno told SFGate.
Jeanne D'Arc originally opened in 1972 under the Lamberts, and when it reopened in 2023, they brought the restaurant's longtime chef Bernard Moutal out of retirement.
