Rooster & Owl's owners, Carey and Yuan Tang, are reintroducing their renowned fried chicken through a new takeout-only concept named Side Chick, which will operate from their Falls Church restaurant, Ellie Bird. This launch follows extensive research and development to create a recipe that remains crispy and flavorful during transit. The menu features several spice levels, unique sauces, and sides reflecting a cross-cultural influence. The launch coincides with the July 4th holiday, aiming to attract fried chicken lovers looking for exceptional carryout options.
We R&D-ed this fried chicken so many times hoping to have something that could withstand transit and still be crispy and flavorful and juicy. And I think we really like cracked the code.
It is quite hot, but it also tastes like chile.
Both Rooster & Owl and Ellie Bird are known for their cross-culture mashups, which come through in Side Chick's sauces and sides.
Customers of Ellie Bird frequently request the pints of the restaurant's housemade ice cream, and now they will finally be available in Side Chick.
