Texas state representative Brent Money has introduced House Bill 3399, which seeks to extend the ban on gender-affirming care from minors to adults. This bill replaces 'child' with 'person' in existing law, effectively prohibiting surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone treatments for transitioning. Existing treatments will be phased out for those currently using them. Previously, Gov. Greg Abbott signed a similar ban for youth, and this new move makes Texas the largest state to implement such restrictions for adults as well.
"I want to make it clear that my heart goes out to those struggling with gender dysphoria. These individuals deserve compassion, support, and real solutions to address their pain - not irreversible procedures that leave them scarred for life."
"This legislation isn't about judgment; it's about accountability. It targets the doctors and medical profiteers who exploit vulnerable people, pushing costly surgeries and lifetime pharmaceuticals for financial gain rather than offering genuine care."
